Over the years, thousands of music enthusiasts spent weekends jamming, learning, listening, and dancing at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford in Northwestern Pennsylvania.
With the help of family, friends, the Ischua Valley Dulcimer Club, and many great musicians, our dream came true when we founded the Heart Of The Alleghenies Folk Music Festival (HOTAFEST) in 2004.
The festivals combined workshops, jamming, concerts, an open stage, and added a contra dance element. Unfortunately, HOTAFEST has been cancelled for 2010, and we'll most certainly miss everyone associated with the past festivals. THEY WERE GREAT!
It is our mission, as The Allegheny Mountain Dulcimer Players, and The Allegheny Mountain Ministries, to bring together young and old, beginners and experienced, musicians and audiences and dancers, to play old time fiddle tunes, Bluegrass, Gospel, Country, Folk and Contra Dance music in a spirit of friendship, hospitality, and learning.
